The Ministry of Science & Technology plays a significant role in the contribution of national development goals, especially by being able to guide public research institutes to engage in demand-driven research, research commercialization, promoting inventions and innovations, etc. In order to perform this task, the Ministry continued to accord the highest priority to creating a link between research, research funding, and development priorities, such as establishing Sri Lanka as an Innovation Hub by maximizing the use of the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, augmented reality, cloud computing, nanotechnology, and 3D printing.

The Research & Innovation Division of the Ministry has initiated this website—“Vidya E-News”—to promote science, technology, research, and innovation among schoolchildren and the general public of Sri Lanka.

Accordingly, the Ministry hopes to use this website as a knowledge hub for research and innovation, including services, research, and innovation provided by all research-related institutes of Sri Lanka.
